PlanningThe repowering of Delabole is different from building a new wind farm from scratch but the application will go through exactly the same planning channels. We hope the successful development and operation of the existing wind farm will help to inform the planning process on the matters relating to planning issues. The existing wind turbines are positioned a considerable distance from the nearest houses. When the planned, new turbines are installed we aim to retain this distance. The exact position of the new turbines will depend on the outcome of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and on a technical site assessment. The plans showing the proposed position for the new turbines will be available to see at the public consultation. We will announce the consultation dates on this website in due course. We plan to decommission and remove the ten existing wind turbines and install a reduced number of new ones. We hope to sell the old turbines which can be reconditioned and reinstalled at a different site with a less valuable wind resource.
In the planning application we identify the roads that will be used during the project. We have taken care to route all construction traffic away from Delabole so that project vehicles will not increase the volume of traffic through the village. For short periods there will be some increase in traffic on local roads during the construction period but this will be carefully controlled. Back To Development |
