Delabole Repower
In December 2008 Good Energy received conditional planning approval to Repower Delabole wind farm.
Good Energy currently owns and operates Delabole wind farm, a 4MW site that produces 10,000MWh of electricity annually. The planning approval will allow for a proposed increase in the wind farm's output by two and half times. By decommissioning the existing ten turbines and installing four modern, more powerful turbines, the Repowering project will harness the wind resource more effectively, providing enough energy to supply over 7,500 homes.
The Repowering of Delabole is Good Energy's first wind farm development project. This successful step accomplished by our generation development team supports the company's mission to build a renewable energy portfolio to supply our growing customer base.
Now that planning approval has been granted, the generation team is focusing on the next phase of the project, identifying which of the shortlisted turbines will perform best at the site and which project partners we want to select to assist us to deliver the commissioned project.
Our proposal for the repowering of Delabole Wind Farm was generally welcomed by the local community in North Cornwall. We believe this is partly because we communicated the relevant project information to the residents at the first available opportunity and this answered questions and allayed concerns. Good Energy aims always to be transparent and honest in our work and we feel this was a very beneficial approach for the repowering developments.
The Repowered Delabole wind farm will generate equvilent to 20% of the electricity consumed by Good Energy customers and we expect the new Delabole wind farm to be operational in 2010.
Pipeline projects
Good Energy’s mission is to build a renewable energy portfolio to supply our growing customer base. To achieve this mission, the Good Energy Generation team is working on a number of projects which it is taking through the development process with a view to acquiring planning approval and then delivering commissioned sites of renewable generation.
We will update this page with our pipeline projects when we have relevant information. If you are a landowner interested in developing a renewable energy project or if you represent a community that has access to a site that can be developed for renewables and you are interested to work with Good Energy Generation, tell us about Your Project.
